Slopes and erosion control

Vegetation that holds the slope.

Bare slopes erode in the first monsoon. We spray a heavy mulch and binder mix with grasses and legumes chosen for deep roots and fast cover. The blanket protects the soil from day one, and the roots take over as the plants establish.

The process

What we do on a slope

  1. AssessSlope angle, soil, drainage, rainfall, access. Soil sample taken. Our software matches the mix to the site.
  2. Stabilise where neededCoir or jute matting on steep faces. Soil nailing where the slope itself is unstable. Soil nailing →
  3. HydroseedHeavy bonded-fibre mulch, more binder than a lawn mix, and a seed blend of grasses and legumes for fast cover and deep roots.
  4. MonitorWe check establishment and advise on touch-ups after the first rains.

Why this method

Why hydroseeding for erosion control

  • The mulch and binder protect the soil from rain impact immediately, before any plant grows.
  • It covers large and awkward areas in hours, where mats and turf need days of manual work.
  • Roots stabilise the soil permanently and the cover maintains itself.
  • It is the method highway authorities worldwide specify for new embankments.

Questions people ask

Straight answers.

How steep can you go?

Hydroseeding alone works on most embankment slopes. Steeper or unstable faces get matting or nailing first. We assess each site.

What about the monsoon?

Spray before the rains so the blanket is in place. The binder holds through normal rainfall. Very heavy early rain may need a touch-up, which we plan for.

Do you use native species?

Yes where available. Native grasses and legumes establish better and need no care after the first season.
