Hydroseeding: grass for lawns, slopes and sites across India.

We spray seed, mulch and nutrients onto bare soil in one pass. It costs less than turf rolls, it holds on slopes where turf slides, and it works from a farmhouse lawn to a highway embankment.

What is hydroseeding?

Grass, planted by spraying.

Hydroseeding is a way of planting grass by spraying. A tank mixes grass seed, wood-fibre mulch, fertiliser and a natural binder with water. A hose sprays the mix over prepared soil. The mulch blanket holds the seed in place, keeps it moist and protects it while it germinates. It is how highway departments, airports and golf courses grow grass over large areas.

About Urban Green

A new company, built around the right mix.

Urban Green is a new hydroseeding company. We are setting up our own hydroseeding equipment and our own mulch process, so we can control the mix on every job rather than buy a standard product. We are also building software that matches seed, mulch and grass type to your soil and site. Until it is ready, we choose the mix from a soil sample and a site check.

  • Based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Large projects anywhere in India.
  • Small jobs far from Jabalpur: travel is added to the estimate.
  • If turf is the better choice for your site, we will say so.

Questions people ask

Straight answers.

How much does hydroseeding cost in India?

It depends on area, slope, soil, access and the seed mix. In general it costs less than turf rolls because nothing is grown elsewhere and transported. Send us photos and the approximate area for a written estimate.

How long until grass shows?

Germination depends on the grass type, the season and watering. Most lawn grasses sprout within one to three weeks and fill in over the following weeks. We tell you what to expect for your mix before we spray.

Does it work on slopes?

Yes. The mulch and binder hold the seed and the soil in place, which is why hydroseeding is the standard method on highway embankments and cut slopes.

What is the best season in India?

Just before or during the monsoon, and in spring, depending on the region and grass. Summer heat and winter cold slow germination. We advise on timing for your location.

Hydroseeding or turf rolls?

Turf gives an instant green look at the highest cost and needs weeks to root. Hydroseeding costs less, roots in your own soil from the start, and works on ground where turf cannot be laid.
